The Knicks Take A 2-0 Lead On The Big Bad Celtics By Ending Game 2 On A 23-6 Run As The Series Heads To Madison Square Garden
Well that sucked for a long time before it ended awesome. Again. Also I know the basket in the picture of this blog didn't count because it was a charge but it was too awesome to not lead the blog with it.
I was trying to figure out how the hell Knicks won that game after watching their offense revert to the 90s Knicks for so long before I settled on the 23-6 run to end the game being the reason. Yeah the Celtics missed a million threes yet again, which the media will point to as the reason they lost again. But at some point you actually have to, yanno, hit your shots in the playoffs no matter how great you were at doing it in the regular season or past seasons.
The Knicks hit their shots when it mattered, including Mikal Bridges who scored all 14 of the points in the 4th quarter and once again contributed to lockdown defense to end the game then taking the ball away from one of the Celtics beloved Jays to end things.
Brunson had another tough game and wasn't perfect in clutch time. But he once again hit the shots he had to in order to put us up later and KAT actually played like he was the biggest guy on the court for a while. I honestly would've just taken KAT looking good in Boston coming into this series and considered it a win. Instead, the Knicks are up 2-0 despite being down big in both games thanks in no small part to Frank Fleming’s jet lagged ears.
Obviously the Knicks haven't won anything by going up 2-0, but it sure as shit is better than being down 2-0 and having to go into the hornets nest that will be Madison Square Garden on Saturday afternoon. Luckily for the Celtics, that won't be the craziest place in the neighborhood considering this is what Meek Phill became in the Gambling Cavs after Game 2.
Win the game on Saturday and you can start dreaming some crazy dreams.
P.S. The Knicks are still undefeated in the playoffs against the Celtics, Cavs, and Thunder. Guess we can finally throw out that stat from the regular season that doesn't mean shit once the big games begin.
